Forever

When we've been there 10,000 years
Bright shining as the sun
We've NO LESS DAYS to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun!

Is He First?

David...sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the might God of Jacob; Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; I will not give sleep to mine yes, or slumber to mine eyelids, Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.*

How many days do I go through without finding out a place for Him! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we would drop everything that we have going on until we are certain He is first in it all and say, as David,
Arise, O LORD, into thy rest...

Even more wonderful: For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation. He wants us! He wanted us first!

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16

We love Him, because He first loved us. 1 John 4:18

Priorities

The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out. Leviticus 6:13

This verse called out to me as a gentle reminder (or sharp rebuke?) as I thought of a thousand other things I had spent time on in the last week instead of the praise and worship of my Lord.

Communion with Him is so important: to hear His voice, to learn His will, to feel His presence, to order my world and calm "the multitude of my thoughts within me" (Psalm 94:19), to get a sense of what it will be like to be with Him, to be a daily witness of my purpose - His glory!

Then I will go unto the altar of God... Psam 43:3-4

When you wonder why..

I'm thankful for the bitter things, they've been a friend to grace.

They've driven me from paths of ease to storm the secret place.

I thank Him for the friends who failed to fill my heart's deep need;

They've led me to the Saviour's feet, upon His love to feed.

I'm grateful too, through all life's way, no one could satisfy;

And so I've found in Christ alone my rich, my full supply.

Happy New Year!

Keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually. Hosea 12:6

With mercy and with judgment
My web of time He wove,
And aye the dews of sorrow
Were lustred with His love.
I'll bless the hand that guided,
I'll bless the heart that planned,
When throned where glory dwelleth
in Immanuel's land.

New ideas...

This new blog is meant to incorporate snippets of Bible verses, interesting readings, and other generally encouraging tidbits.

This morning in my half awake state (having to be at work at 6:30 a.m. to prepare for training means getting up EARLY) I read this:
That I may knowHim, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death. Philippians 3:10

How much do I really KNOW Him?
How much do I really know HIM?
